Moira - We wanted to thank you again for our wonderful wedding in Orkney, and for the excellent service that Orkney Weddings provided. Now that it has been a few months since our trip, we have had time to reflect and share with our friends and families just how special the experience was, and wanted to share this with others as well.
Getting married on the cliffs on “the longest day” (summer solstice) was an experience we will never forget. Just as we had hoped, the ceremony left us feeling uplifted and connected with the energy of this special place. We still look at our photos and can hardly believe that we were lucky enough to be married in such a beautiful, awe-inspiring location. When we showed people the pictures at our reception back in the states, they agreed—and were more than a little envious! Thank you so much for making this magical experience possible.
Needless to say, your service to us was professional, warm and courteous, and made the wedding not only easier but much more pleasurable as well. Since we did not have friends or family with us, it was important to be surrounded by people who gave us that level of personal support and friendship. You, Ken, Karen, and Andrea gave us that and more. In fact, your treatment of us throughout our stay made us feel special and welcomed in Orkney, and the mention of your name got us warm smiles and exceptional service from everyone we met.
For those considering a wedding in Orkney, we would not hesitate to recommend your services. From your advice on everything from wedding photographers to restaurants, there is not one decision that we regret or question. “It had always been an ambition of ours to visit the Orkneys so, when the opportunity arose, we decided that we would like to combine a trip of a lifetime with another lifetime’s journey – marriage. However, the physical distance between our home in England and the far reaches of our destination made such a plan not only intimidating but potentially impossible.
We should not have worried because as soon as we made contact with Moira our worries were allayed. From beginning to end we were guided and helped in a manner which was reassuring, friendly and totally professional. At no time did we feel isolated and anxious about procedures and arrangements, and we both appreciated those frequent e-mails with words of support.
A wide choice of venue was offered, including Atlantic beach and historic church. We liked the idea of an open air ceremony on the beach and were fortunate to stay at Skaill House which gave us the option of this whilst being able to move indoors should the weather be inclement. Although the weather was beautiful on the day of our wedding we chose to be married indoors in the lovely setting of the Laird’s House and we felt very special in such surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything was perfect on our special day. We are so very grateful to Moira for organising our accommodation; dining bookings; wedding arrangements; ferry bookings; and so many extras. Thus, the potentially impossible became a realised dream.

“We wanted a quiet wedding and had the idea of marrying on Orkney so we contacted Moira after coming across her website. What impressed us right from the start was her prompt efficiency and her kind and calm personality. She phoned us straightaway, and we had several chats in which different possibilities were discussed and all our questions clearly answered.
Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she smoothed our way with seemingly effortless ease through what looked like a bureaucratic nightmare. We wanted an outdoor wedding and of the places she suggested we chose The Ring of Brodgar. She put us in touch with the minister, who kindly performed the marriage ceremony there. She also arranged for us to hire a car, have our wedding rings made in Orkney, organized photos and booked us a marvellous restaurant for dinner after the ceremony. She dealt calmly and efficiently with an unexpected problem when most of our luggage did not arrive until a few hours before the wedding. She had arranged an alternative indoor venue in case of rain and took the trouble to come to the wedding just to make sure that everything went off smoothly. Finally she delivered the book of our wedding photos to our rented cottage a few days later.
Without her it would have been much more difficult to get married on Orkney, and we cannot thank her enough for all her help, efficiency and kindness.”
